Community water infrastructure assessments funded
Water is vital for the future economic development of the Territory. For remote communities, access to water can enable more houses to be build, and unlock community growth and development opportunities.
A joint investment of $8 million has been made by the Northern Territory (NT) Government and the Commonwealth Government’s National Water Grid Authority (NWGA) to carry out assessments of water supply infrastructure for remote communities across the NT.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Power and Water who will provide an engineering analysis of essential water services and identify viable solutions to secure water supplies.
This includes looking at options to upgrade or replace the pipes, pumps and tanks which supply water from source to homes. The assessments may also include looking at options improve water quality where needed.
More information on the project is available on the National Water Grid Authority website.
