Collaboration was the winner at NT Australian Water Association’s Northern Territory Water Awards 2025

The Office of Water Security (OWS), part of the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment and partner agencies were proudly recognised at the Australian Water Association’s Northern Territory Water Awards held on 16 October 2025, celebrating outstanding contributions in water security, innovation and leadership across the Territory.

The Remote Water Team, a collaboration between OWS, Power and Water Corporation (PWC), the Department of Health, and Department of Housing, Local Government and Community Development was honoured with the Infrastructure Project Innovation Award (Regional). The team’s innovative approach focuses on improving water services in remote communities by actively engaging with residents, addressing concerns, and fostering trust and confidence in their water supply.

In addition, OWS, in partnership with PWC, earned the Organisational Excellence Award for their leadership in the NT Government’s Water Demand Management Strategy for the Greater Darwin Region 2024 to 2028. This strategy has been effective in conserving water and reducing government expenditure, with savings of $244,000 already achieved across 20 Northern Territory schools.

These awards underscore the departments and partner agencies commitment to delivering sustainable, community-focused water solutions that protect resources and enhance quality of life throughout the Northern Territory.
