Productivity Commission call for public submissions for the National Water Initiative 2024 inquiry
Public submissions are open for a new inquiry into the National Water Initiative.
The Australian Government has asked the Productivity Commission to undertake an inquiry into all Australian, state and territory governments’ progress towards achieving the objectives and outcomes of the 2004 Intergovernmental Agreement on a National Water Initiative (NWI). This is the third inquiry the commission has undertaken on the progress of water reform in Australia.
In 2023, we released the Northern Territory’s (NT) first water security strategy - the Territory water plan. The Territory water plan aims to deliver water security for all Territorians and enable the NT Government and partners to continue to deliver on the NWI objectives.
To read more about what the NT Government is doing as part of its commitment to the NWI, go to the Northern Territory Government website.
If you would like to make a submission to the Productivity Commission as part of the 2024 inquiry, go to the Australian Government’s Productivity Commission website.
Submissions open 5 January 2024.
Submission close 2 February 2024.
