Better bores for communities in the NT
The Northern Territory Government and Australian Government, partner to deliver the Better Bores for Communities program. This program will enhance water security and infrastructure across 10 remote communities, improving liveability, promoting economic opportunities and supporting sustainable growth.
The program represents a total investment of $34.3 million, with the Northern Territory Government providing $6.5 million and the Australian Government contributing $27.8 million. The program will involve water source investigations and bore drilling in the communities of:
- Robinson River
- Warruwi
- Yuelamu
- Titjikala
- Finke
- Atitjere and
- Gapuwiyak.
Additionally, essential equipment will be installed to connect new water sources in the:
- Wugularr
- Haasts Bluff and
- Ntaria (Hermannsburg) communities.
Power and Water will lead the works with water source exploration scheduled to commence in early 2025. All activities are expected to be completed by 2027.
These projects align with the work of the Territory Water Plan, which is a whole-of-government strategic framework to deliver water security for all Territorians, now and into the future.
